The Department of Ophthalmology at the Prince of Wales Clinical School is the l
argest teaching hospital eye unit in Australia.

The hospital’s Department of Ophthalmology has played a significant role in visual science and clinical ophthalmic care in Australia. It has a long history of innovation in eye research, having been chaired by the late Professor Fred Hollows (1965-1993). The department has made important contributions in the areas of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, rural health, telemedicine, and sun-induced eye disease.
